Common Cannabinoids: Cannabinol (CBN)
CBN is a weak psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. It was the first cannabinoid to be identified and isolated from cannabis in 1899. It’s commonly found in trace amounts. As high-THC cannabis sits in storage, the aging THCa converts into CBNa, the acidic precuror.
Weak Psychoactive
CBN is considered mildly psychoactive, but it generally doesn’t produce a “high”, like that experienced with THC.
Binds to CB1 & CB2
Cannabinoid receptors are found throughout the body. They’re a part of our endocannabinoid system. Because these phytocannabinoids can interact with both CB1 and CB2 receptors, they can be utilized throughout the body. This compound does show a higher affinity towards CB2.
THCa Converts to CBNa
CBN is formed as THCa ages from exposure to light, heat, and oxygen.
