Botanically, there is no difference between hemp and marijuana; the difference is defined legally. The term “hemp” specifically refers to cannabis containing 0.3% or less of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). One of many cannabinoids, THC is the chemical compound responsible for the psychoactive effects experienced. If a hemp plant contains more than 0.3% THC, it is legally classified as medical marijuana in Ohio.
